The Akwa Ibom State High Court in Itu legal division has condemned one Utibe Daniel Etim to death by hanging over the murder of his dad. The accused, a middle aged young fellow, was charged on one count of murder 2016. It was gathered that the accused committed the offense following a contention that resulted between him and his dad on the sharing formula for the bush rabbit he caught. The contention prompted a disagreement amid which he lost his temper and utilized a hatchet to hit his dad’s head. The deceased, Mr. Daniel Etim, a traditional bone specialist, is accounted for to have died in the hospital because of the head wounds caused on him by his son. Delivering judgment on the issue in suit N0 HIT/21c/2016, Justice Edem Akpan proclaimed that the arraignment, having called five observers, including a pathologist who led the examination, has demonstrated the case beyond reasonable doubt. The presiding judge reviewed the arguments of the two counsel and noticed that the accused, who was his solitary witness in the issue, had prior conceded in his confession booth explanation to the Police that he hit his dad with a hatchet on the head after a contention which resulted over the chased amusement and, appropriately, condemned him to death by hanging.
