Annual screening may help reduce ovarian cancer occurrence

Doctors are now able to monitor the level of a particular chemical, CA125, which increases with ovarian cancer. The report is of the opinion that annual check-up with measurement of this chemical raise suspicion of ovarian cancer, such a case could be sent for further testing and if necessary, surgery would be recommended to remove the ovary.

 

It is however too early to rejoice as a lot of work still needs to be done for the test for the chemical, CA125, to be widely used.
