Brit sailor admits killing wife during honeymoon

A Brit sailor who reported his new wife missing during their honeymoon has pleaded Lewis Bennett, of Poole in Dorset, admitted a charge of involuntary manslaughter during a plea hearing in Miami following the death of his wife Isabella Hellmann in 2017. He entered the plea after US Prosecutors reduced a charge for the 41-year-old to one of unlawful killing without malice. The couple – who married three months before – started their set sail to Puerto Rico and Cuba before leaving for their home in Delray Beach, Florida. According to court documents, experienced sailor Bennett was awoken on May 15 while off the coast of Cuba when he heard a loud nose while resting in the cabin.
