NAPTIP arrested man for trafficking Primary 5 pupil to Mali
The Benin Zonal Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons has arrested a 29-year-elderly person, Action Mudiaga, for supposed human trafficking. It was gathered that Mudiaga was apprehended by operatives of the agency at Uwheru in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State. He was said to have been on the wanted list of the agency after he supposedly invaded arrest by jumping into a river two weeks back. The suspect was affirmed to have trafficked a 14-year-old Primary 5 pupil of Udu Primary School, Uwheru, to Mali for sexual misuse. He was likewise affirmed to have given over the young lady to his sister, one Ejiro, who later exchanged the injured individual to one Madam Shakira.
The Zonal Commander of NAPTIP, Mr Nduka Nwanwenne, who affirmed the arrest to our journalist in a statement on Sunday, said the pupil was tricked into believing that she would work in a supermarket. He explained, “However, in Mali, she met different young girls, who were also being abused, clad in pant and bra in a house. The victim was equally to be given pant and bra and compelled to meet with male clients. “Her protest earned her undeserved beating and denial of food; she succumbed after couple of days. All her income was gathered by Madam Shakira.” While noting that the victim later secured her release following a protest by her folks, Nwanwenne said that a manhunt had been launched for the other members of the trafficking syndicate.
