The Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, Lagos, South west Nigeria, Prof. Olufemi Fasanmade, has advised Nigerians to adopt the habit of washing their hands as a strategy towards reducing the incidence of infectious disease in the country.
He said although Nigeria had been declared free from Ebola, hand washing and personal hygiene are effective in preventing the spread of other deadly communicable diseases such as Diarrhea, pneumonia.
He also encourages patients, doctors and nurses to cultivate the habit to reduce mortality and morbidity from infectious and communicable disease within the hospital settings.
