Medical tourism has in recent years become a craze; it involves seeking medical treatment in countries where it is cheaper, affordable and efficacious. In most cases, people leave developing countries to developed countries with better and modern healthcare system and could combine the treatment with vacation.
The ranking involved 30 countries in Asia, Africa, South America, Middle East, North America and Central America covered 34 criteria such areas as Country Environment, Destination Attractiveness, Medical Tourism costs, Medical facilities and Service, Qualified personnel among others.
The first five countries of destination for medical tourism globally are Canada, United Kingdom, Israel, Singapore and Costa Rica.
The annual Medical Tourism Index is done by the International healthcare Research Centre headquartered in the United States of America.
