About 795 million people globally (13 percent of total population) are said to be chronically hungry; most of them in Sub-saharan Africa, South Asia and Latin America; this is according to an NGO, Hunger Project. In the same vein, the NGO says abut 25 percent of Sub-saharan Africans are malnourished.
The NGO said this during the celebration of the 2016 World Hunger Day, the day set aside by Hunger Project in 2011. It is meant to raise awareness about chronic hunger and those who are struggling to exit from it.
China is said to have moved about 700 million of her people out of poverty in the last 15 years being the first country to meet the M illenium Development Goal one and hopes to move out additional 70 million by 2020.
