The Human Support Service Group and Patriotic Citizen Initiative; an NGO, has said that about 60,000 Nigeria youths cross the Sahara desert annually on their way to Europe via Libya/Morocco/Mediterranean Sea.
Another 100,000 get stranded in these countries due to shortage of funds while yet another 700 die during the crossing of the desert, all in the search for the so-called greener pastures.
This information was released by the coordinator, Mr. Osita Osemene, in an interactive session with newsmen in Benin City; he claimed to be speaking from personal experience.
He urged Governments at all levels to put policies in place to halt this trend.
