EU-SIGN urges Government, Religious, Traditional Leaders to support the eradication of Polio in Edo.
During the launch of the Project at the weekend in Benin city, Edo state, The Acting Team Leader, European Union Support to Immunization Governance in Nigeria (EU-SIGN), Mrs.Aminatu Sidibe, has call on government, religious and traditional leaders to support the eradication of polio as well as reduction of child morbidity and mortality in the country.
She also said that Nigeria will be certified polio free by the World Health Organization (WHO) if no incidence is recorded in the country between this month and next.
Speaking at the event, The Governor of Edo state, Com. Adams Oshiomhole, commended the development partners for their collaboration towards ensuring that women and children in the state were healthy.

During the weekend, A Nigerian, Dr. Eddy Agbo, emerged as one of the three winners of the innovation prize for Africa, winning the special prize for social impact with innovation healthcare solution to address Africa’s prevailing malaria burden, and the prize of U.S. $25,000 was awarded to him, for his Urine Test of Malaria (UMT) a rapid non-blood diagnostic medical device that can diagnose malaria in less than 25 minutes.
The UMT detects malaria parasite proteins in the patients urine with fever due to malaria, it is also simple to use and affordable, and a potential game changer in managing malaria and saving lives across Africa.
