Golden Cross Hospital sensitizes Festac residents on Hepatitis.
As part of activities to commemorate this year’s World Hepatitis Day, Management of Golden Cross Hospital, Festac town, Lagos, has screened and treated over 500 residents for hepatitis infection free of charge, the exercise which was held at the premises of the hospital featured other checks of blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, among others.
Speaking on this, The Project Director, Golden cross hospital, Dr. Ofonime Udoh, said hepatitis Band Care on the increase in Nigeria, with about 15 per cent of population having hepatitis B and out of every 100 Nigerians, 10 would be Hepatitis B positive.
Dr. Udoh, urged Nigerian to go for regular screening, saying, hepatitis does not show symptoms but comes with complications and that before presenting it in the hospital the damage would have already been done, as many patients may come down with liver cirrhosis.
She urged health workers to screen blood correctly before transfusion while observing ideal infections control practice.
