Japanese Scientist develops skin tissue.
Scientist from the RIKEN Center for Developmental Biology in Japan in collaboration with the Tokyo University of Science and other Japanese Institution has successfully grown complex tissue-complete with hair follicles and sebaceous glands-in the laboratory using programmed IPS cells.
The scientist were able to implant these three dimensional tissue into living mice which formed proper connections with other organ systems such as nerves and muscle fibres.
The researchers say this success will take 5-10 years to translate into humans.
