The Kastina state Commissioner of Health, Mariyatu Bala Usman has disclosed that a middle-aged man (name withheld), brother of a man who died from Lassa fever and seven others who participated in the burial rites have tested positive to Lassa fever in Kastina State, Northwest Nigeria.
They are now being quarantined at the National Obstetric Fistula Centre at Babbar Ruga.
The Director of Public Health, Dr. Shamsudden Yahaya said that about 18 primary contacts of the diseased had been quarantined just as over 100 secondary contacts were closely being monitored and are on drugs.
