Nigeria will today launch a national drug control master plan as part activities to mark this year’s International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. A statement by the Outreach and Communications Officer, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) James Ayodele said the launch will be done by chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Alhaji Ahmadu Giade in Abuja, and will signify the commencement of its implementation by the relevant stakeholders.
The master plan provides an integrated and comprehensive roadmap for multi-sectoral interventions to address a wide array of drug related issues in Nigeria in line with international drug control conventions. It outlines activities that will help reduce the incidences of illicit cultivation, production, use, and trafficking of narcotic substances.
