During an Interdenominational Choral Competition, organized by the Association of Persons Living with Sickle cell Disorder in Ukpo, Dunokofia Local Government Area of Anambra state, the wife of the Governor of Anambra state,

Mrs. Ebelachukwu Obiano, who was represented by the Executive secretary of Anambra state Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Chioma Ezeenyimulu, has joined the campaign on genotype test before wedding in the state, the policy was inaugurated by her husband in July.She also said the policy would reduce the prevalence of sickle cell anemia in the state and the resultant of family crisis, explaining that the prevention would better start from per-marital relationship, stressing that it would be necessary that people would know their genotype before consenting to marriage, adding that nobody should be discriminated against on the ground of the ailment, noting that sickle cell other illness and not a death sentence.
