4. Ooni, Sultan dedicate throne to women’s health
Ooni of Ife, HIM Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has dedicated his throne to health care delivery and health for mothers. He made the declaration after the United Nations Population Fund invested him “grand patron for women and children’s health” in Abuja.
HRH Sa’ad Abubakar III, Sultan of Sokoto, newly invested as good will ambassador for women and children’s health dedicated his award to “mothers who lost their lives bringing life [into the world].” Accepting the award, Ogunwusi said it gave him “more reinforced energy and commitment toward motherhood and healthcare delivery for the entire country.” “We are losing a lot of children and mothers,” said Ogunwusi, who in his early 40s is considered the youngest man on record to ascend the Ooni throne. Sultan of Sokoto said, “As leaders we must always put the health of our people first.”
