Over 15 stalls stocked with motorcycles spare parts worth millions of naira have been destroyed by flood occasioned by rain at Nkwo Nnewi market in Anambra State.

Conducting the Sole Administrator of Nnewi North Council Area, Chief Emeka Ojukwu (Jnr), round the affected motorcycle spare parts section of the market, Chairman of New Auto Spare Parts Association (NASPA), Chief Ethel Ijenwa, appealed to Ojukwu to come to their aid, adding that the traders had spent over N3.4 million to check the flood, which he said, was caused by blocked drains and poor drainage.

Ijenwa said some of the traders were indebted to banks because of losses suffered after the flood disaster.  He alleged that some of the commercial banks operating around the market were not giving the necessary support to the traders. One of the stakeholders and a major dealer in motorcycle spare parts in the market, Chief Pius Ogbuawa, said the flooding had brought dull business to the traders who he said were only managing the effect of motorcycle ban in some parts of the country and the consequences of Boko Haram insurgency which hampers smooth trading between traders from the North and the South East.
