The Nigeria Institute of Medical Research (NIMR) has called for a vector control surveillance for the prevention of outbreak of Zika virus infection in Nigeria.
An Entomologist at NIMR, Dr. Sam Awolola also appealed to Federal Government to take note of the high risk and put vector surveillance measures in place.

He also explained the difficulties to completely eradicate mosquitoes because of their high resistance to insecticide but said vector control measures such as spraying insecticide, fumigation and fogging at regular intervals can help.
