One of the most important assets of a woman is her breast, it enhances her attractiveness and is readily noticeable besides the face. Consequently women worry about the size and shape of the breast, whether it is still perpendicular to the body or not.
Men are attracted to different sizes of breast, some men like big breasts, others; medium size or even small breast. A host of men are however indifferent.
However; a lot of women are fixated on the attractiveness of their breasts and hence a lot them can go to any length to show off their bare breasts even in public to attract the opposite sex.
A lot of women go for breast implant while others use special bras that enhance bust.
Nonetheless, rapid breast growth can cause back ache.
Using bra size by some manufacturers, the range is from 32 to 50 but standard international sizes do not exist, manufacturers tend to establish their own measurements. However size 32 is small while 50 off course is large.
Our discussion today will be on factors that affect the size of a woman’s breasts.
1.Genetics
Heredity seems to play a role in the size of breasts, daughters of women with big breasts are more likely to have big breasts; this is because like every other thing about human beings, the amount of fat in the breast and skin elasticity are determined by inherited genes.
2.Age
Breast size reduces with age; after menopause, the breasts are denied the hormones which affect the breasts; these are oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone. Consequently, the glands and ducts in the breast shrink leading to reduction in size.
3.Use of contraceptives
The use of contraceptives such as oestrogen and progesterone increases the size of breasts; one reason to suspect a young girl is on the “pill “ is the size of her breasts
4.Exercise
Exercising without wearing appropriate bra can promotes breast enlargement; repeated ‘flapping’ or bouncing during exercise is not good for the breasts as it affects the skin elasticity. It is advisable to always wear the appropriate bra when engaged in any form of exercise from running, biking, workout or any other sport.
However too much exercise of the chest muscles can lead to small breasts, many female athletes are like men, they have very little breast more so if they are on male hormones to develop the muscles.
5.Breast feeding
Breast feeding increases the size of breast because of the increase in size of the ducts and glands and accumulation of fat. After breast feeding, the breasts are expected to reduce in size but not to their former sizes; this is repeated in subsequent pregnancies. The longer the breast feeding the breast feeding the bigger the breast to an extent and this could lead to sagging of the breast, hence a lot of women do not like to breast feed. However the benefits of sagging far outweighs the disadvantage of sagging.
6.Body weight
Weight gain encourages deposit of fat in the breasts leading to increase in size. Most fat women have big breasts.
7.Number of pregnancies
The number of pregnancies also affects the breasts, each pregnancy means increase in size of the breasts through the growth of the ducts and glands and fat accumulation. After breast feeding, the breasts are expected to reduce in size but not to their former sizes; this is repeated in subsequent pregnancies.
