Chinese authorities have detained 37 persons and put another 13 under investigation for the illegal storage, transportation and sale of expired vaccines; vaccines are specially stored and transported in special containers/vehicle to retain potency. The vaccines involved in this case
are polio, rabies, hepatitis B and flu.
China has been accused severally of fake drugs and food; in 2008, contaminated milk produced in China caused illhealth in about 300,000 children and killed six. The milk was contaminated by melamine.
