Dr. Timothy Olanrewaju, a nephrologist at the University Teaching Hospital, Ilorin,  kwara, North central Nigeria and the Director, Worthy Life Education and Health Foundation, Mrs. Ruth Abayomi, during an awareness program me in commemoration of World Kidney Day in Jebba Local Government  Area of Kwara State, said that chronic kidney disease in children and adults is on the rise according to data of the seven communities screened in the state, he stated the major causes of the disease in children are recurrent infection, congenital diseases and heredity while in adults, hypertension, HIV, Diabetes, Urinary tract obstruction etc.

He added that some of the diseases are not curable but could be controlled..
